Kinti & Paw is a deeply private, work-from-home companionship sanctuary near Hamilton Park — where nature, avian medicine, and emotional calm converge to give sensitive and older dogs the peace they deserve.
Commercial daycares are built for volume. The barking, the chaos, the constant overstimulation — for sensitive or older dogs, this isn't enrichment. It's chronic stress. Research in veterinary public health consistently links high-stimulus group environments to elevated cortisol, disrupted sleep, and long-term anxiety in dogs.
Kinti & Paw was built on a different premise entirely. Rooted in the founder's background in public health and years of fostering urban rescue dogs, our model treats your dog's nervous system as sacred. One guest at a time. One home. One deeply present human.
Your dog is never competing for attention, space, or calm. They are the only guest.
Every element of the environment — sound, light, routine — is calibrated to support a settled nervous system.
Reliable rhythms, gentle boundaries, and unconditional warmth form the foundation of every day.
The name Kinti & Paw is rooted in Kinti — the Kichwa word for hummingbird, honoring the founder's lineage of facilitating healing retreats in Ecuador. The hummingbird is a teacher of presence: it sips sweetness, filters noise, and moves with extraordinary intention. These are the qualities we bring to every walk.
Daily outings are timed around local birding migrations along the Atlantic Flyway — one of the great natural corridors of the Eastern Seaboard. Walking with awareness of the birds above teaches dogs (and humans) to slow down, attune to the environment, and find stillness in motion.
The hummingbird does not rush. It arrives precisely when it is needed, sips what is offered, and departs without disturbance. This is the model for care.
One of North America's great migratory bird corridors, passing directly through Jersey City
Timed around seasonal migrations and the rhythms of local urban nature
Rooted in Kichwa healing traditions that honor the hummingbird as a guide to presence
The founder of Kinti & Paw is a practicing public health professional whose understanding of stress, nervous system regulation, and behavioral patterns extends naturally to animal care. This isn't a hobby — it's a vocation informed by science, deepened by experience, and sustained by genuine love.
Over the past two years, 12+ dogs have been successfully fostered and placed through local rescue organisations — each one arriving with their own history of anxiety, transition stress, or behavioral complexity. Every placement was a success.
Expert reading of canine body language and stress signals
Proven protocols for transition anxiety and first-day settling
Reliable, comforting daily routines that dogs quickly learn to trust
Fully insured, premium-tier private care — because your dog deserves nothing less
To preserve a quiet, low-stimulus environment for all neighbourhood residents and guests, Kinti & Paw operates strictly via a park-side or curbside valet system. There are no lobby visits, no building entry, and no disruption to the sanctuary environment.
Send a quick message 5 minutes before you arrive. We'll be ready.
We meet you at the park-side corner for a calm, unhurried greeting — no rushing, no chaos.
Your dog transitions gently into the quiet home environment, on their own terms.
This protocol exists to protect the nervous systems of every dog in our care — and to honour the peace of the neighbourhood we call home.
Kinti & Paw accepts a very limited number of guests by design. If your dog is sensitive, older, or simply deserves better than the noise of a commercial daycare — we would be honoured to meet them.
